2020-2021

My practice explores optics and the role of light in contemporary visual culture, drawing on research around luminescence, transparency, and invisibility to position vision as a historically-altered and politically-contentious experience.
I have received residencies at the Headlands Center for the Arts, Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder, La Fragua Artist Residency, and Untitled Residency, among others. Previous exhibitions include Overhead, afterimage (Untitled Space, Shanghai); The sun is your enemy (R/SF projects, San Francisco); and Flattened and disorderly (BABEL Visningsrom for Kunst, Trondheim).
I received an MFA in Sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BA in Art from Grinnell College. In addition, I received a certificate in Preservation from the Danube University Krems’ Media Art Preservation Institute (2021), was selected for the Kadist+SFAI Exhibitions Fellowship (2015-16), and studied abroad at the UCL Slade School of Fine Art (2012).
