Origin of the world

Beginning with the phrase “origin of the world,” I trace the etymologies of each of these words through their histories. In a variety of early languages including Avestan, Proto-Germanic, Old Frisian, Old High German, Old Norse, and Proto-Indo-European, I investigate how far back these etymologies reach and at what point this phrase finally disintegrates.
